The Jim Fiegen model introduces important, and in my opinion, long overdue design improvements to the archtop jazz guitar. It is difficult to improve any icon design such as the archtop without moving it away from its intended, or evolved sound and functionality. There is much to be said for leaving well enough alone. New design features should offer specific positive results as to playability, sound and appearance while keeping within the tradition in which the instrument evolved and thrived.
Exclusive design features include: Adjustable feedback supressing bridge post, compound sweep cutaway, slotted head, special bridge design and sprung tone bars. These features contribute directly to superior acoustic response, light weight and ease of playing.
